Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses
Our personalised online SKE courses are highly flexible, supportive and can be completed at your own pace. We enable you to feel confident and ready for your teacher training.
Special offer for ITT applicants with SKE as a condition of offer
As our DfE funding has reached it’s limit, and applications are now closed, we are offering a special, one off discount for the remainder of the 2025/26 academic year. This offer applies to applicants who are due to begin their Initial Teacher Training in September 2026 and who are required to complete an SKE as a condition of their offer *
The standard cost of an SKE is £800 for the first 100 hour unit and £500 for each additional 100 hour unit. Under this offer, each 100 hour unit will cost only £400. For example, a 200-hour course (8 weeks equivalent) would normally cost £1,300.00 (£800 + £500), the reduced cost would be £800.00.
*We will request evidence of the conditional offer following receipt of your application.
This discounted offer will close at the end of June 2026.
Develop your subject knowledge
Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) courses help to get you into teaching by improving your knowledge of a subject area. If your degree isn’t in the subject area you want to teach, or you want to transfer your professional experience into a teaching context, then an SKE course might be perfect for you.
We’ve been delivering online SKE courses for over a decade. Unlike other SKE providers, we tailor your learning to the exam board or curriculum specifications of your placement school. Our courses are also aligned with the government’s Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF). By familiarising yourself with authentic classroom materials, you’ll be well-prepared for your teacher training year.
These online courses can be studied in your own time. You also have the option to study full-time (25 hours a week), part-time (12.5 hours a week) or a combination of the two, with tutor sessions and deadlines scheduled to fit with your commitments.
Certain subjects are funded by the Department for Education (DfE), but we also offer a self-funded route if you’re not eligible for DfE funding or you want to study a subject not funded by the DfE.
Our courses are designed to give you the subject knowledge and confidence you need to plan inspirational lessons from day one of your training year.
Ready to apply?
If you already know the SKE subject you want to take, you can apply now.
DfE-funded applications are now closed for 2025/26.
We are still accepting self-funded applications of any course length.
